I know the sweetened jar costs me a teaspoon of sugar and a gram of saturated fat, which is a price I am willing to pay some weeks and not others. Holding those figures loosely in my head replaced a lot of second-guessing at the shelf.
The thing I would want you to carry, if only one thing survives, is the spoon. Read the label once so you know what jar you own, then pay attention to how much actually comes out of it, because that is where the calories that surprise people live. Peanut butter is a good, cheap, genuinely nourishing food that is very easy to eat more of than you meant to. Both halves of that sentence are true, and the second half is the one that changes anything.
